Abstract

Retroperitoneal sarcomas are rare tu-mors and form 15% of all soft tissue sarco-mas. The most common histologic type of retroperitoneal sarcomas is liposarcoma, which are frequently diagnosed incidentally. Major treatment in retroperitoneal liposarco-ma is extensive surgical resection. Because of the risk of local recurrence and metastasis af-ter surgery, these patients should be followed up by multidiciplinary for a long time. Posto-perative follow-up of the patients should be multidisciplinary.

Herein we presented our approach to a 72-year-old liposarcoma case, who was ad-mitted without follow-up after the first ope-ration and was presented with a giant retro-peritoneal mass of 24 cm 16 years later.

Keywords: liposarcoma, recurrence, ret-roperitoneum
